Good Food but …..

21 Dec

When you go to a restaurant hell bent on eating a specific kind of food and then you end up eating something else…no matter how good the food is, its still not the same.

Heres what happened…

Over the past few months there were signs that “Eden Park” was opening near the office. That was exciting news as they are known for their super Andhra food. Check out the reviews here.

Last weekend they finally opened. Today we trooped down there (its walkable) all set to eat Andhra food and the wonderful pachadis that Eden Park serves, only to find that its the same Eden Park alright but NO ANDHRA FOOD…

“Its Fine Dining Sir we have three restaurants here, North Indian, Chinese and Kababs..” the steward told us..

That was a bummer..we had the North Indian (mainly because we didnt feel like walking to another place), but all along we were only thinking of the food we didn’t have…

Food was good, Price was high, but sadly it wasn’t what we wanted….

One more lunch wasted !!!

Hi Vijay, I know what you mean. Here it happens a little differently as you know. You want the MTR Masala Dose but you get something else. However you don’t stop going there. You go there again and again hoping it will be better next time and it never is.

Give me some ‘must try’ restaurant recommendations — will be in B’lore for a short visit in Feb.

MTR has timings for its food :). If you go before 9am you will get white idlis, if you go after you will NOT get white idlis but their famous rave idlis :). If you go on Wednesday you will get Badam halwa…. How do I know all this????? I have teenage boys who just love love love MTR. Though I must say, the younger one prefers Vidyarthi Bhavan and is seated by the owner promptly. Nope, we do not know anybody there at the store :).

Thanks for the info, My3. Take a look at the picture at the link: MTR Masala Dose on my last visit.

Vidyarthi Bhavan is on my list this time.

I live in the US and when we go to Indian restaurants here, we want authentic stuff but we never get it. We still go back hoping it will be different but it isn’t.

Padma, please do a search at Vijay’s site. He and his friends have very kindly put together a whole list of places to shop and eat. And I mean the traditional kind 🙂 in the Gandhi Bazaar/Jayanagar area. It is truly a treasure trove of information.

Maiya’s is an OK place, blasphemous though it sounds. I like it because it is clean and I am comfortable sitting there with my mom. I have tried their breakfast buffet which is good. Their lunch is also good. Nothing spectacular. Good clean place. Definitely a place to visit. I am yet to try their lunch in the silver thali :-). One of these trips…
