Reality Tours

17 Jul

You’ve got to give it to our guys…they are creative.

N.R. Ramesh sent me this picture of a company that does Slum Tours:

While we are at that, I have a few more suggested tours:

The “Assembly or Lok Sabha Fight” Tours – See our politicians waste taxpayers money by fighting while supposedly representing the people. All these assemblies have visitors galleries anyway. A premium can be charged when a “hot” topic is being discussed. That way we can recover some of the money being wasted here.

The “Watch the politicians hold the public to ransom” tour – See our leaders in action when they protest on the streets and bring an entire city to a standstill.

So poverty porn is very much alive 😦 I wonder how the residents of Dharavi feel about people coming and gawking at them like they were so many zoo animals.

“Poverty Porn” is an apt term for this…

All our poor people like some one coming in A/c cars or any good vehicle. they assemble in 1000s and discusses why they came and who are they.
vijay your suggestion are quite good, ofcourse now people all seeing how our elected reps behave themselves and waste tax payers money in parliment/assembly/council/rajyasabha/corporations etc., etc., in TV.
One bill which passes without any hurdle in increase in thier salary and allowances!!!!!!! hahaha no hangama for this at all

Vijay Agree fully what is happening to our democracy its just mockery of the same. only thing is there is expression of freedom here except for the emergency clamped during 1975, ofcourse there was a befittiang reply in polls after ememgency, but our opposition then could not sustain the unity they got. we had one of the best central govt. with such a talented team but inner fights, not tolerating ones growth, hunger for power made them to disintegrate and bring the congress back to power. its very sad we lost such a wonderful party which united under JP
life is like that and what we see today is totally disgusting. hope things will get better for all to be well. hope so!!!!!!

Rio has had the same kind of tours of their slums (favelas) for a while. Looks like someone “borrowed” the business model.

    • Vijay July 26, 2010 at 6:47 am #

I guess the people going on trips to see the assembly/LS tours must go with armour and helmets.
The organizers will not be responsible for any injury.
