    Hi happy new year.

Just curious about the ritual. My neighbor is celbrating gudi padwa/ugadi for maharashtrians. She kept the gudi (stick with a green cloth and pot on top) outside her doorstep. But she also has kept some food items like roti and chawal in a plate right beside the stick with the green cloth. why do people keep food outside their door step? is it part of the ritual?
