Do you need your Pressure Cooker Serviced?

31 Dec

If you live in Bangalore, there are these guys who come to your house asking if you need your pressure cooker to be serviced. Who are these guys? Does anyone know?

They carry no tools. Just a book…

These folks did come to our house once sometime back… I remember that they had a vehicle with a hoarding .. not too sure if they had any tools in that.. (our pressure cooker required no service so we didn’t avail any service)..

This reminds me such home services which we don’t see now a days.. those folks who used to sharpen our knives and such things. They carried an equipment which was mobile, now a days knives once used for few days need to replaced 🙂

    Happy New Year! 🙂

@Veena: Now that you mention it, its been a while since I saw the knife sharpening guys… maybe they joined the BPO industry 😉

@rads: Anything can be repaired here… last week my wife had a knob fixed on a “leaky” gas stove.. apparently a washer was replaced… I guess its tougher in the USA…

Some weeks back a gentleman dropped at ma place and said he want to inspect the gas connections, I asked him where he is from and he flashed a card (which was not readable and looks older than its expiry date). He was keeping on talking about how he want to ‘check’ connections, finally i had get rid of him by saying that I DONT have a GAS connection at ma house !!!

I hope they are not of a different category, where we have read and heard about jewelry polishing folks. At times it is also not advisable to have such folks to be allowed inside either. 😉
    I remember those knife sharpners.
My parents have moved to an apartment complex few months ago. During my recent conversation I heard, they don’t get to see those vegetable and flower sellers on streets, there used to be a lot where we lived before; and it was very convenient to buy those vege on day-2-day basis. At times, the vegetables on first vegetable cart on that street would decide our dish for that day 🙂

Oh I could do with one of those guys right now..cookers need servicing, tools of not..life without a fully functioning pressure cooker is just not the same..guess the ‘joh biwi se karet pyaar…’ days are over..nice blog! and Happy New Year

@Xylene: No gas !! lol.. you must have been very convincing.. I remember the Gas connection guys as well… did not allow them inside as well..

@Ram: Once you get into Apartments you lose that element. Where we live, we still get the Vegetable cart every day.

@Morpheus: True.. I guess we take these little repairs for granted here…in other words we can get it done whenever we want to..
