Breaking News: Vijay Mallya to be Indian Cricket Coach!!!

Okay, may be not but the great Indian Cricket Coach tamasha continues.

First, it was Whatmore. He was too desperate for the job so out he went. Now we have Ford. From what this article says about him, he seems to be a reasonable choice to coach a team of professionals. So this would preclude the Indian team. He is destined to fail in a team mostly full of self-important showboats to whom discipline is a four letter word.

Then we have Sunil Gavaskar suggest John Emburey who according to an article on Cricinfo has been a spectacularly unsuccessful coach. Inexplicable.

It would have been truly comical if Ranatunga had become India’s coach. Notwithstanding the comic value, thank goodness for small mercies. The last thing we need is a cricketer noted for his lack of fitness coaching a bunch of lazy under-achievers.

I thought Gavaskar wanted “desi ghee”…. an Indian to be the coach so how come he suggested Embury?

Coming to Ranatunga, a couple of days ago he was referred to as a “wily strategy master” by our own “maccha” Krish Srikkanth… who cares about fitness if you are Wiley Coyote 😉

it pains to read/see anything about cricket , esp seeing photos of the office bearers in their ‘I am serious and knowledgeable about the glorious game ‘ demeanor.
I 4 one dont care if they bring the desi wily’s mother in law, have a imp match b/w moya and nadal to watch.

There was a stage when I thought Whatmore was the coach of Indian team. In fact one channel announced that he was the coach. And today we have some two unknown fellas in the fray. Let’s see what happens! 🙂

And about the sheer class and professionalism displayed by BCCI when they conveyed to Whatmore that they were merely leading him along the garden path and did not really want him! I think Graham Ford is jinxed too – after all he too seems to have the player’s approval. That will not go down well with Gavaskar and the other wise men at work.

Vij – I think Emburey is a “non-choice” just making up the numbers or there to pacify SG
Vinay – not to mention the former captains mafia. Pretty sure the Australian Cricket Board don’t have Steve Waugh, Mark Taylor and Allan Border pontificating on all matter Australian cricket. Oh wait, ACB is run by a bunch of professionals.
Mysorean – I read a couple of news reports that did everything but come out and state it.
MP – Agreed… BCCI are a bunch of buffoons but Whatmore screwed himself by appearing too desperate. I think he would have got it had he been smarter about it and hadn’t made an enemy out of Gavaskar.

I think our media makes too much of this stuff.. I am watching a report on Times TV (the page 3 channel) about some “allegations” that Ford is a racist .. and that the match fixing scandal happened during his time…

Thats all the poor guy needs a “tarring” even before he gets here…

I am sure they’ll dig up something about Embury.. if nothing else, they’ll allege that he leaves the toilet seat up or something like that..

At least the players choice prevails if Ford is chosen. But with the cunning kuLLa at the helm, it shouldn’t be a surprise if Embury is chosen, after all.

Now I know why Ranatunga was so soft on Indians during WC….lol. And honestly, your “maccha” Srikkanth was great to watch, but is a pain to listen to!!!

We wouldn’t be in this position if better sense had prevailed in 2005….who was that again? Ahhh….MOODY!!!

P.S: Aditya, very nice title….very apt!!!

    first it was ‘Kiran More’,
    then came ‘Dave Whatmore’
    Gavaskar wants ‘some more’,
will selectors stop asking ‘any more’,
players are asking ‘how much more’ ?,
    poor spectators yawning with bore,
and want to cry out ‘no more’,

no, no, not, of the coach ,
    but cricket itself.

we take more time to decide on the coach .

deciding the team takes lesser time

deciding on itinery takes least time…just take 365 days and leave a few weekends free according to the wishes of pepsi incorporated etal for shooting purposes /a few days for ramps and fewer days for camps. whatever remains is the days of matches .
