Making the best of what you have

12 Mar

He wouldn’t tell me his name. Too shy. He sells flowers at the Manjunatha Swamy Temple in Banashankari 2nd Stage with his Grandmother.

He also prepares for his exams. He was studying English yesterday. Next time my kid complains about “lack of infrastructure” at home, I’ll show him this photo.

    Good luck, kid!

Thanks for this wonderful human interest story! Really inspiring snap.

Let him become a future vishveshwaraiah.. Also, see if he needs any financial help.

We can do that from a new concept called blogger’s fund(only from interested chaps)….

You should go to villages, & those folks do so much work at home & then attend their classes…. “More importantly without cribs”.. Coincidently, many successful people share such child wood story!!

ps – Reminds me the book ‘samaanyaralli asamanyaru’ from sudha murthy, she speaks about such people there….’Wise & Otherwise’ covers some of them too!

This boy is surely on his way to becoming a well-known figure in our State’s history. Great accomplishments have humble beginnings.
Your photo has brought us face-to-face with a stark reality… the other side of this nouveau rich urbanscape.
But could you tell us why you’ve taken a long shot of the boy, instead of maybe a profile?

  7. Vijay March 12, 2007 at 10:26 am #

@greatunknown: The camera I used was the one on my Mobile Phone… I also didnt want to scare him off.. so I took the one.. He was so shy that he wouldnt even tell me his name..

visweswaraiah is what came to my mind seeing the phost
yes veena you have already said it.
It is really touching to see the committment and dedication
yes vijay the people who have should see at this havenot’s
and always think they are better off
    as said
we must always look at people who are below us and be happy
rather than seeing above and always cribbing
wish the boy all success in his efforts and let him become
a good samaritan with very good education let him shine shine shine

Ah! I guessed as much Vijay… about the camera phone!
Still, you have woven magic with your words. This is not to take away anything from the wonderfully touching photograph of a boy sitting at the entrance to the abode of the Divine; maybe in the hope that his prayers are heard and answered someday.
