The Dirty Dozen (minus one)

11 Jan

The SC upheld the suspension of 11 MPs in the “Questions for Money” scam. Now these guys were guilty of taking between Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 100,000. They people who caught them were these sting artists. A sting is like putting a biscuit in front of a dog (I must apologize to the dogs here).

So lets compare Lalu Yadav with these 11 “Intelligent ones”.

Lalu and his consort Rabri scam the country for Millions of rupees and get away. Lalu is minister of the Railways and gets to lecture IIMs and Harvard grads. These guys take a pittance in comparison and for that they get expelled.

LESSON: If you must take a bribe, take a large amount. Not piddly little amounts. Scale is everything.

P.S: Another thing that has been pointed out to me is that the Tehelka stings take place only when there is something going on against the Congress (like Bofors etc). Fact or Fiction?

It is true only small fish will be caught in the net the net is too small to catch a big one
and they know how to get out of the net also
How many things are brought out relly once a while some fodder bofors and tehelka or operation duryodhana what happens hundreds or lakhs and lakhs of such cases which go unnoticed. It is very difficult in the present indian context to bring it down. it is like
beliye yeddu hola maidre kauyvararu? irrespective of which party rules these things go on and on………. may be ocassionally you find the reduction in percentage of such things may be dur to some good man at the helm of affirs. everyone should correct themselves but if every one wants to corect the other man or society excluding him then nothing will move better for the country
public awareness and action by them enmass only can eradicate this? but question can it happen? if yes when?

Is it some kinda attention diversion done by big fishes?! At the end they (bip fishes) somehow escape and win everytime in the elections!!

  4. Vijay January 12, 2007 at 7:16 am #

Veena: The youth need to be informed that everything is not hunky dory… a dose of reality will do them good.

Prashanth: I have to agree with you.. too many concidences to beleive otherwise. There is definitely some connection. Heres another thought any idea why the Pepsi, Coke pesticide issue is raised only during election time? That too by the same organization? I am not supporting Pepsi or Coke.. but I have serious reservations on the sources..

    Hmmmmmm… Nice thought…!
You are in the right place, I mean in the print media.. just a small shift is needed, from Advertisement to real journalism! 🙂
Murali can host a news paper, 😉 & you supply such & more reality to it…

do you know about a news paper Vikrantakaranataka which is hosted by an NRI Ravi Krishna Reddy. I have a soft copy which sent me couple of days back, its sounds relly interesting.
Have read his book last year, I got a chance to meet him when I was in sanjose last year, I mean in 2005!
All IT people should take some path .. which will make a difference, some change agents! Great Vijay.. keep it up..

After many many years of experience of corruption here are my guidelines

    a) Take bribe – scale as mentioned is extremely important. The more you get bribe the easier to escape ( you can just share the booty with other legal enforcement agencies)

    b) Take a bribe – win a election : This ensures you are protected by parilment laws. If they dont, have enough bribe takers around to form a new policy. Judiciary says they will review, make another rule which makes that redudent…shh i dont need to teach those do you?

c)Take a bribe – Become a god man: This is more superior, most people wil even start worshipiing you. Have a great sect of followers, do anything illegal you want and keep proping up politicians at will.. Yes before your junior swamy dethrones youget lost is the advice.

There are many more options but these are the popular and tested methods by modern politicans.

Mohan – I like the guidelines you have listed! Sounds like you have sat for years on the “taking” side of the table. So much gyan… 😉

Veena – it is not easy to move from Advertisement to Journalism. In Journalism you have to “portray THE facts”. In Advertisement you have to “portray AS facts”. World of difference!

  8. Veena Shivanna January 12, 2007 at 12:05 pm #

Hmmmm… World of difference, In fact, I got to know about this when I read some articles from a friend called seshadri. He was so much interested into details & facts, but never happy with the Ad-kind-of news which sounded so emotional & philosophical.
I always thought, what big deal, but NO.. its a big deeeeaaaaaaal.
Thanks Murali, that was nice to explain things short & brief… Thats why people call you what (C**)
    Ha Ha Ha 🙂

Hmmm some abstract communication b/n veena and Murali…irli 🙂

Lessons by MOHAN are food for thought. If we follow properly, these food can also become fodder and get you a big publicity after which you can even be teaching HARWARD students!!

When theres a law that nets you in, formulate a law supporting you!! What a gr8 gyan!!
I have a doubt whether Sonia Gandhi was your student sometimes back 😉

    Mohan: Good observations 🙂 LOL

I am extremmely happy. in general people think today’s youth never think abouat morals culture etc., they are only looking at Money and luxuries. your guys and gals are proving this wrong yes this tribe may be in small no. need of the hour is this tribe should increase and money and luxuries are not the only thing in like yes they are needed but with the above thoughts it will be wonderful. think about society do little you can do this will go long way.
I want to share we have got a trust which aims at rehabilitation of girl students who are mentally chanllenged as they will be out of special school once they are 18. a known primary teacher may be around 35 known to me was discussing on donating some money to a good cause when we discussed about this trust she visited this and on her own decided to help and took leave for 5 days and went on mobiulising I was amazed she could collect couple of thousands and promises for few more. and all these donors are not interested in their names to be published like that. and collections ranged from 1000 to 10000 and what a wonderful service and she mentions she does it for many what a great service and publicity shy!!!!
let the tribe like the one in blog and also one like above increase. people should always think what we have done to society and country rather than what society and country has given to them.
“hani hani goodidare halla tene tene goodidare balla”
a very good morning to you all and a good start for another day

  12. DD January 13, 2007 at 5:08 am #

    that’s the gud lesson(for politicians,in particular).. 🙂

  13. M O H A N January 17, 2007 at 5:05 am #

Murli sir : If i would have been on the taking side all these donkey years, why wouldnt i be in the cabinet by now?? That answers which side am!!!

Look at TN people, they for sure know that no politican is good. They vote for who gives them more goodes ( atleast 50% of promise is sufficient)!!! So birbe taking , nepotisum etc package deals dont get a hoot and people have given up in majority and try to make a minor fortune for themselves.
