Hidden Meanings

8 Dec

Our politicians are experts at “thippe saaarsing” especially when it comes to explaining away defeats and corrupt practices. Of course the actual meaning lies hidden behind these comments.

Now that our “beloved” CM has and the JD(S) have lost in the bye-election and our not so beloved Siddu has won by a margin as slender as the Indian Cricket team’s victory(?), here are some comments (courtesy various newspapers):

Actual Statement: “In Dharma Yuddha, Dharma will have an initial setback. However it will emerge victorious in the end”

Hidden Meaning: “Shit man. We didn’t have enough booze to distribute. We’ll get it right next time”

Actual Statement: “First I congratulate the Election Commission. Next I congratulate the Congress party for their victory”.

Hidden Meaning: “I wish my dad had still stuck with the congress party and made me the CM”.

Actual Statement: “Its a moral victory for us”

Hidden Meaning: “Really need to get the booze distribution spruced up”

    JDS Spokesman

Actual Statement: “The result is morale boosting for the JD(S)” (did someone tell the guy they lost?)

Hidden Meaning: “The drunken slobs pressed the wrong button (hic)”

    Deve Gowda

Actual Statement: “The EC worked as part of the Congress Machinery”

Hidden Meaning: “I wish I was in power at the center. I would have the EC working for me”

Actual Statement: “People Power ensured my win”

Hidden Meaning: “Thanks suckers. See you in 5 years”

Actual Statement: “Its a mandate against Dynastic politics”

Hidden Meaning 1: “Oh man, I wish I hadn’t said that. Now Soniaji will be mad”

Hidden Meaning 2: “I wish the CM’s son breaks up more hotel lobbies”
