The Queue

Playing Golf the other day, my friend Raghu and I played with a couple of old timers. Both these gentlemen were in their mid eighties. I just hope that I get there and if and when I do, I have the energy that these two had. They played 18 holes of golf and then told us that they would have a few beers before going home. Very endearing.

We loved the company. They were slow, but I enjoyed every minute with them. Some of the jokes would have made a sailor cringe (assuming they cringe).

The most touching moment however came when we were chatting at the midway break.

“We were a foursome” he said, his eyes misting.”We had been playing together since 1950. But now only two of us are left”.

There was a little pause when the other gentlemen piped up “Well we are also in the queue”…and they both chuckled.

Arent we all ??

Cool, always good to play with seniors, proves that you don’t need strength to be good at golf. Where do you play?

      As Ram said below..great attitude…
Bangalore Golf Club (BGC) is my home club..other than that I play at KGA, Eagleton. There are 2 army courses as well. Not as many as the USA but sufficient :-)

Queue is inevitable, but I love the attitude some of the senior citizens have. They are inspiring.
What makes some seniors be most inspiring like that and some middle agers crib about life and always see half glass empty? some seniors like to have fun and enjoy the life; alongside they spread their chuckle, their smile with the people around them, with their stories, experience, jokes etc…

good to spend time with them and learn their life lessons.

Yes. The spirit is what is that one wishes one had. Grandpa in law is 104 – and he puts everyone to shame with the attitude.

Wow, I am amazed they can even drive – and they have the stamina to last 18 holes? Amazing.
