“You need to have Dose’ here” said my friend.
He was talking about Hotel Janardhan which is just off race course road. The place has been around for years but I’d naver been there.
Ended up at my friend’s office (which is right behind the place) for a “meeting”. At 2 PM we headed to Janardhan for lunch. A nice South Indian Thali. Probably the best I have tasted in a while. Interesting thing here is that theres nothing else available at that time… only Thali…and the place was packed.
Somehow the meeting “extended” into the evening and at 6:30 we decided to take a break and head for the Dose’. The thing I liked about the place was the lack of variety. He only has a few items in the evening but thats more than enough if you asked me. I did a Sagu Masale’ and was forced to have Badam Halwa. Since we could not have coffee after eating a sweet, we were forced to order some “Benne Muruku”…
I have a meeting again today…
PS: Rating **** 1/2

Since we could not have coffee after eating a sweet,
I used to be that way, these days I head for the coffee machine right after dessert. Sadly.

Vijay,
One Quick Question… what does rating of ****1/2 mean??
And Badam Halwa and Sagu masale na?? wow.. one of my friends who recently visited “Mayya” eat out in 4th block, was all raves about the dose there…
October 1, 2009 at 12:00 pm |
4 and a half stars
Mayya is good.. very crowded as all good places are these days
October 6, 2009 at 2:13 am
oh 4.5, i interpreted it as a half and wondering about just a half when I read most good things about the place.

I have been to Janardhan, I think
. Of my MIL sister’s lives close by and they took us there about 11 years ago. Is this a restaurant/hotel? The walls were all green
I remember that distinctly. Maiya is too good. We did not even get a chance to try their western desserts!!
Vijay and Nikhil!! Quick a trip to Maiya and a FULL report soon please
rads: So sad, I also have black coffee with dessert!
October 1, 2009 at 12:01 pm |
My3.. Maiyas happens quite frequently these days.. its a full MTR clone.. didnt you go there when you were here? tch tch….
October 1, 2009 at 12:44 pm
AH!! You kill me
Or even more, my son would NEVER agree to leaving Bangalore without a few trips to Maiya. We just wanted “expert opinion” written for the others
. We had the breakfast buffet and the regular breakfast floor. We never made it to the lunch in silver plates

I have a deep appreciation for these limited menu places. There’s a Keralite restaurant near home that serves the best food in the whole city. And a limited menu.

Correct..I think too much “diversity” will hit quality eventually
