Once every month this BWSSB truck comes in and cleans out the septic tanks in the area. All the dirt and the grime are cleaned out and put on the road in a heap. It is then the work of the BMP cleaners to clear that mess. This has led to many showdowns between the two, the latest being this morning when the two almost came to blows.
In the battle, the people living and more importantly walking along the road need to bear the brunt of the stink.
The BMP workers charge people Rs. 50 for clearing the debris in front of their house. They say its the BWSSB’s job to do it.

Imagine the plight of the workers who are involved in these operations…….whether they are BWSSB guys or BMP guys…its one stinking job allright…..no wonder residents are ok with paying the 50 bucks and getting rid of the stinking mound of #$@! in front of their houses.

Although I have never had the experience of being greeted by a pile of crap every day as I walk out my door, I like to think that I wouldn’t pay the 50 bucks. Paying the money just ensures that the crap will never get cleaned by ungreased palms.
It would be interesting instead, to see if we could use a collection of these bribes to get some so-called newspapers to splash a picture of these mounds. I can see an interesting feature already:
A picture of a steaming mound next to a picture of the Man in Charge of BWSSB, with the caption – “Above are two pictures of decayed organic matter. Which one stinks more?… SMS your answers to… 2525 (or whatever)”
Ah! If only those reporters would get off covering Page 3 cocktail parties ….
