Talk about taking the law into your own hands.
A mob in Bihar lynched a pickpocket who was caught in the act. Is this something that happens in civilized society? Is this because we don’t have faith in the law?
Other examples include how fights start when accidents happen. People who aren’t even involved in the accident start fighting.
Is this a culture thing? Whats wrong here?

May be because it was bihar!!! but ya it was pretty rude..
Few bad examples here are the impatient school teachers and the mob during road accidents…

me thinks it’s repressed anger. It’s a release at the drop of a hat, and it’s a very basic instinct. Hitting folks, and feeling superior. Mob mentality is the icing.

It was inhuman…
yes, it happens at the drop of a hat.
we are still savages.
some of us are under the impression that if a man is down everyone can push him further down and it is legal !

@Veena: Not just Bihar.. today in Agra as well… remember the Volvo bus that was burnt in Bangalore?
@rads: Repressed Anger is correct… pent up frustration
@neela: Basic instinct is agression

Lets get to the cause of it… He stole a jewellery…. but WHY?
Its again because of the so called ‘civilized’ society. Had someone thought of giving him an education at the first point, he wouldnt have done that. We are mostly thinking about piling the jewellery at home than what is going around the home….
Its the society to be blamed, not the person who is guilty. Wake up!!

Dear Vijay,
My ex-journo friend Girish Kerodi has superb post on this very issue. have a look at his blog http://www.tenplanet.wordpress.org. I find the feel of your blog very appealing. Read some of your posts on ‘Banglore Mirror’. People like Aurangjeb get lynched but nothing’s being done to people who are corrupt to the core!! Irony, isn’t it?

Tina: Thanks for your kind words
.. It is indeed an irony.. the moral is that if you are a crook be a BIG crook.. not a small one
