Been meaning to blog this one.
I have seen stickers that say “Baby on Board”… maybe we should make some that say “Stupid Parent on Board” as well.
Last week a friend of mine was knocked over by a car that suddenly veered into him while he was waiting to cross the road. The reason? The driver of the car had a child on his lap. The kid suddenly pulled at the steering wheel causing the car to go off track. The guy’s excuse.. “I only do it on quiet roads”… my friend is fine except for a few bruises…
I have seen so many people driving around with Children at the wheel and the only word that comes to mind is STUPID. Its such a grave risk to everyone including themselves.
Can’t blame the kids though… for them its fun… and NO I have never done that.

Very dangerous. Last week I saw a ‘STUPID’ parent riding a bike with his 8 month old child on the tank…I was horrified to see that!

i am not up to speed on driving rules in india, but in the usa, kids are not permitted in the front seats (not that i have not seen that happen, though i have to confess that i’ve not seen kids in the driver’s seat … and even that happens sometimes, based on tv reports!).

Just like driving while drunk, or talking on a cellphone is seen, it should be the case here as well. These people should be punished instantly. It isn’t a fun.

I can’t agree with you more. You know, this is a good reason for the Govt. to enforce a rule that all pedestrians should wear helmet and safety aprons. We’re good at fixing everything but the cause – aren’t we? God forbid, but even in case your friend was seriously injured, all the driver (well, I meant the STUPID and not the child) would have to do is grease the palm of the dutiful officer and get away! Where are we heading to, as a nation?

Parents are very caring but STUPID, making kids ride on laps, petrol tanks of bikes, one sitting on TVS between pappas legs…

I have seen this many times over. When will people learn?
BTW, I am back from my trip to India. I regret that I was not able to meet any of you while there. My father fell ill soon after I got there and was in the hospital. He had to have a pacemaker implant for his heart. By God’s grace, he is doing fine now. I am just glad I was there at the right time. Hope to catch up with you all soon on the blogosphere.

Another nightmare on the roads: Two wheelers with the parent driving through the traffic, and a kid riding pillion, fast asleep and slipping dangerously sideways……

My colleague (father of a ten year old) told me with pride in his voice..eh to activa per mujhe poore gaon me ghuma leta hai.
How much road sense does a ten year old have?How will he function in case of a (God forbid !)tyre burst or a kid suddenly running across the road…

Vijay, hogli bidi.. One more thing that annoys on bangalore roads is the helpless ness of an ambulance driver and the people travelling in it. Our folks don’t even make a way to that vehicle.. I hope we leave out some space at the corner for such vehicles.
About having the kid sit on the lap while driving, may be few lean people can do ashTe.

yes it is true loving parents like this are stupid
allowing boys and girls of age 8/10 to drive two wheelers
and other vehicles is atrositious this should be stopped

Started Smoking when I was 12 by Age14 20 a day
Aged 21 Married and smoking 40 + a day.
Tried a pipe to cut back and smoked a pipe for the next 35 years
December 2006 decided to give up, no real reason finished tobacco January 24
Now non smoker for a month and I am going crazy, Knotted stomach, short temper, weight gain 10 Kg
Told first month is the worst.
I really really hope so
No reply required,
Just thought it would help me to write
Rant over now back to sanity deeep breath
Think of how I am extending my life, Improving my health
(Still would murder for a smoke)
