Of late I have been watching a program on E-TV Kannada on Sunday nights called “Yedhe Thumbi Hadideno” (a singing contest of sorts).
The last three weeks I have seen kids between the ages of 8 and 12 perform and I have been speechless at the talent levels. It is a pity that the organizers have to choose a winner. Everyone is so good.
What amazes me is the poise with which the kids perform. There is no hint of nervousness and they are supremely confident about their talents without being arrogant. I love watching this program and I can’t wait for Sundays.
With such kids, the future of the arts is in safe hands.

Missed y’day’s program. Saw last week’s – the kid who sang – ‘hadinaalku varsha vanavaasadinda’ song, Wow she is gifted!! what a voice, what a talent.
And the way SPB anchors it – hats off to him.
PS: Wanted to write about this program on my blog… blame my laziness

Prashanth: Last week that little one was phenomenal…

No words to appricate the kids… I really enjoy an hour of program at the end of the week ! Sometimes i feel kids program is much better than adults
Long live “yedhe tumbi hadideno”

Shadow: You hit the nail right on the head…. I am just so happy listening to them.. and you are right.. I like it more than the adult programs…

Vijay,
When does this program air? I used to watch the Hindi version on Zee anchored by Shaan, which was very uplifting too. Idhunu Nodabeku…

Just notice, when they introduce them, the speak about their gurus & many of them have one of their parents in the list. I think its the way they nurtured with.
Confidence & other things are easy to be inculcated during that age. They sing so well, shruthi, laya taaLa are just perfect. I generally hear them since its dinner time at home
Another program called ‘endu marayada haaDu’ came on sankranti day on ETV, it was equally exhorbitant. One girl by Rakshita, I just can’t forget her voice just not the face, I wish/hope for a daughter ! they are easier to handle…
Mysore is a cultural capital, we have great muscians around, atleast we used to have lot of time there to go to our music classes & attend concerts., & here in bangalore the travel time & the distance piss me off… Otherwise I would have passed my senior exams by now probably. …

Telling chennaites without a Set-Top-Box about such programes can be viewed as sadism!
January 22, 2007 at 10:48 am |
Adi: Sorry man…maybe someone can put it on YouTube
January 22, 2007 at 1:21 pm |
Future in safe hands…Yes!
Those children are really wonderful.
Veena, Rakshita is one of the winners of recently concluded series on the same programme. She sings so cute!!
Same holds good to Hiranmayi, one little girl who performed two week’s back. Missed yesterday’s episode. Hmmmmmmm.

It’s so good to know that we have such enormous talent with us. If possible, also do watch “Saregamapa” on Zee Kannada. THis is however a program with 18-30yrs age group participating. I like this a lot.
February 9, 2007 at 8:22 am |
PKNM: Thanks for visiting.. will make it a point to watch the Zee Kannada program.
February 9, 2007 at 11:59 am |
Zee kannada dalli.. all adults.. they sing well.. The judges are RAju Ananthswamy & the lady kogile ratnamala prakash.. you should see the review comments, its sometimes so straight.
ETV has one more musical program called Raaga Ranjini, the one only program which I watch in the entire week, Praveen explains about raaga in his flute & he talks more about the raaga & plays some famous tunes belonging to that raaga! Interestingly, raaga gnaana gets enormously betterd out! It comes on sunday 10 am on ETV!
February 19, 2007 at 9:21 am |
Houdu Veena.. their comments are so straight forward.. and especially the judges are so unpredictable… with all that it’s a nice program… however, nange ansathe.. a program dina inda dinakke standard kadme agtha ide antha.. and also.. ivaga public has to vote-out the contestants.. ad bere…

Ede Tumbi Hadidenu programme is great (Only in the age group 8-12). I wonder why ETV is allowing kids who are 13+, not sure if their parents lack ethical sense!!!
I liked the singing of Meghna, Inchara and Anirudh
Arundathi needs be moderated. Age is with her though.
Hiranmayi, Pavani needs lung power breath they can make their pitch.
The rest did not make any impact (for me
)

Folks, another program on ETV related to Music.. Nanna haaDu, anchored by singer Nanditha.. He has a melody in her voice & a moderate personality..
Need to watch it from this week, saturday @ 10pm!

Raaga Ranjani programme is good for the old songs that they sing. It has lost it charm as they do not talk much about the “raaga” in detail. Divya Raghavan was compering great,…. she moved out all of a sudden!!!
Visited Ede Tumbi Hadidenu recording of last 2 quarter finals of 8-13 age group…..most of the audience did not go with the results…many were shell shocked!!!!! unexpected results….technically correct kids did not get the results for their talent….lobbying seems to be the mantra.
April 23, 2007 at 7:53 am |
Yeah, It is very encouring for all the kids and also the parents who want thier kids to nurture the singing talents of their kids. (I am one of them). I am interested in watching this program live in the studios. Can anyone guide me how I can be part of the audience.

Nagaraj, some options:
1. Through Canara Bank who are the main sponsors
2. Any of the agencies that provide services to these programs (Wardrobe, Lighting etc)
3. Getting in touch with the company that “produces” this for the channel.
May 16, 2007 at 3:27 pm |
Its a wonderful program and kids are too good. esp Arundathi and her voice.. the way she sangs without looking at any notes.
SPB is good. but only thing is he has to refine his kannada. Did any one notice the way he uses “Vishesha” for everything
should write to ETV kannada to asking him to avoid using that word in every sentence.

gift means not a thing,it is the appreciation that is the gift.

S P B sir is very very good, he introduces each and every person both big and small equally ofcourse we should over look some mistakes which everyone of us make.
he is giving a very good explanation of music directors , artists, musicians which we some times do not know, this way we get to know about the effort behind the screens,

Have lost interest in Ede Tumbi Hadidenu. The new talent on the show is pathetic.
Results are planned and executed accordingly.
Arundati is good, but there were quite a few on the table, were left out for no reason.

Hi All, My name is Ashwini. I really enjoyed the Can Bank sponsored Edu Tumbi Haadidenu programme. Children performance was mind blowing. I worked in Can Bank for 20 years and taken VRS in 2001 and now want to pursue singing. I would like to take part in this programme. I do not know the rules and regulation and I stay at Calcutta. How to go about it? Please let me know. I am kannadiga by birth.Thank you
May 19, 2008 at 12:49 pm |
Rajeswari,
Where were you in Canara Bank? I mean your postings . Were you ever in Bangalore ?
I was in HO for nearly 9 years. Am now in Delhi.
Wonder if we know each other.
Do let me know.
May 20, 2008 at 2:45 pm |
rajeswari,
I have made some enquiries. This programme is only for children. But in case you want to be a pert of the audience, do send a mail to funfilled_forever@yahoo.co.in and passes can be arranged to attend.
But the auditions are held only in Bangalore.
Hope this is of some use to you.
